Gift or Ornament Box

Brief Instructions

Make a stamp out of this template. Open a new canvas to the size you want and stamp the template on a new layer. Drag your pictures and papers below the template layer. When your pictures are in place delete the portions of the pictures or papers that are outside the template boundaries. Hide the template layer then print.

Detailed Instructions

1. Save the picture of the small square box on your computer. Go to this image. Right click (Macs control click, I think) on the picture and click “save picture as”. A pop up box will come up and you can decide where you want to save it on your computer. Make sure you remember where you saved it.
2. In Photoshop (or whatever image-editing program you use) click file then open. In the pop up box that comes up find the picture of the box template where ever you saved it in step one then click open.
3. Save the box template as a brush. If you don’t know how to do that read this tutorial.
4. Open a new canvas (file>open). Make your new canvas whatever size you want. If you are printing at home on an 8.5x11” paper make your new canvas that size. Make sure your canvas is set at 300 dpi and RGB mode. Need more help with this? Read this tutorial.
5. Click on the brush tool in the tool box then select the box template brush you created in the options bar.
6. Make a new layer. Read this tutorial if you don’t know how to do that.
7. Stamp (brush) the template on the new layer. Use the move tool to pull the corners bigger or smaller until it fits the page. Remember to press shift while transforming the image so it stays in proportion. When you have it the size you want press enter to “free transform”.
8. Drag your pictures or papers on layers under the template. Your project should look something like what you see below. You can put your pictures or papers anywhere you want. I chose to use the green snowflake paper from our Seasons and Holidays CD on the top, bottom and tabs.

9. Erase the portions outside of the template boundaries. You can do this by selecting unwanted areas with the marquee tool then pressing delete. Make sure the correct layers are selected. I usually select an area then go through all the picture and paper layers, hitting delete on each layer because I can’t always tell which layer is for which picture.
10. Add text if you want.
11. Hide or delete the template layer, then print. You should be able to print something like this…

12. Follow the directions given on the original template website for assembling the box.

NOTE: When adding papers to the project you can leave them big but I prefer to shrink the papers way down so I can see more of the paper design.
